SlantyNet – Events

December + presents = 151

Sweet jumping baby Jebus! Well, actually, the day after jumping baby Jebus…I’m looking at my calander today, and figuring it’s time to put out the call. The call of the wild. What does a bottle of 151 rum sound like you may ask?

It may sound a little like this :

“Yes…my precious. We wants it. We neeeeeeds it. And we WILL haves it!”

At least that was the sounds coming from my liquor cabinet earlier this week. Now it may have just been SlantyK hiding in there again, I’m never sure, but I’d bet dollars to bottles that at this time of year it was our favorite beverage speaking out.

So, without further fanfair, here it is :

The Annual Boxing Day Gift Extravaganza!!!!

Where : Slanty III (1036 east 21st)
When : Dec 26th
What’s the shakedown :
Going out for dinner at 6pm
Gift exchange at 8pm
General festivities to follow

So come on around, bring a wrapped gift in the $10-$15 dollar range for the gift exchange, and bring some booze for the evenings celebration.

I’d like to get a rough estimate of the people that would be interested in the pre-dinner, so please RSVP with me either by phone, email, or that “special touch” that I know y’all like so much.

There is a horsey racing morning/afternoon thing being organized by Jody, more info to follow.

“Dashing through the snow,
in a one horse open sleigh.
Over the fields we go,
laughing all the way.
HA HA HA!!!”

Simpsons Good Times

So my significantly better other has bestowed upon me the unholy prize of the Simpsons Seasons 1, 2, and 3.

So Sunday, December 14 at 2pm I’m offering up our humble Slanty III living room to view Season 1 of the Simpsons. (yes the first year wasn’t the funniest but it includes voice overs by Matt Groening).

Other seasons will follow in different monthes.

P.S. It’s 13 episodes so estimating that’s about 6-7 hours of Simpsons lovin.

Holiday merriment

Hi, just looking to throw the gauntlet down on SlantyNet holiday activities.

We’re trying to plan for two major events.

Boxing Day — Probably do the traditional gift exchange over at 2D’s house. We would also like to arrange a day at the Races in the morning, I understand that there is a brunch in the morning out at Cloverdale race track.

New Years Day — I am organizing the New Years Day festivities. Most likely we will pre-party somewhere and wind up at a restaurant/bar afterwards. I am leaning towards venues on Granville Island and/or False Creek, such as Monk’s, Dockside, Sandbar, Cats Meow, etc. I am open to other suggestions, so speak your peace. I have not made any calls regarding pricing or anything yet, so I know there’s not a lot to go on. If I get any suggestions (or requirements), I’ll try to keep them all in mind.

We’re hoping to see a lot of people out there, we’ll probably have a contingent from MaxFun as well.

Please express your interest/disinterest/alternate suggestions in the comments. This events page will be updated as required. I imagine that New Years will take the most planning.

Please express your interest in attending a New Years EVEnt at one of the locations mentioned in the comments so I have a general idea of the number of tickets. I am imagining tickets in the $50 price range, but I am open to other suggestions. Likely there will be a pre-party and then onto the party.

Monsterous Mash

October has sprung, hockey has begun…and you all know what that all mean…

It’s time for the 4th Annual Slanty III Halloween Party!!!

Where : Slanty III 1036 East 21st

When : Friday Oct 31; anytime after 8:00pm

What to wear : Some kinda costume…remember ladies, less is more!

What to bring : Whatever you want to drink…and folks, more is always better.

Any questions shoot me an email or give me a call; 604-872-3234. It’s an open invite, so bring it on!

Post Paint Ball Event!

House[well condo actually]Warming/Treaty Party
============================================
May 31st, 2003
Alex’s[disc_boy@hotmail.com]

A post truce has been agreed to after paint ball. Please RSVP so I roughly know how many are coming to see if getting picking up a keg is worth it, otherwise it’s BYOB instead of a donation towards a keg.

There will be food, cooking it well.. something will be done. It’s pork steaks, potatos, corn, chips, some pop etc.

Anyways further details to come, and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions let me[disc_boy@hotmail.com] know!

Cheers,
Alex

A Call to Arms…

Hey everyone, long time listener, first time mail-out. First of all, I just like to let you know what a great show Slanty.Net is. It fills a special spot in my needs and I know it does the same for you too…

…Now it’s time for another special need to be filled…the need to shoot the crap out of each other. Do you have pent up energy? hatred brewing somewhere? If so, then I have the prescription for you…The 3rd Annual SlantyPaintBall War (it’s supposed to be the 4th, but last year we drank too much to organize it).

This year is going to be another blast. I figure we want to be outdoors and PantherPaintball has seemed to work in the past. So here’s the deal. There are two potential dates: Saturday May 17th or Saturday May 31st. Please reply to me which day works better for you. I will be calling tomorrow based on the responses I get.

You can check out the cheesy website at www.pantherpaintball.com if you haven’t been there before. For costs, I figure we can do the private group deal which is up to 20 people for 500 bucks (you get 2000 balls with that as well). If we have more than 20 people, we can add on the individuals and cost average the total. Basically, it works out to 30 bucks for all your equipment (semi-auto gun, jacket, masks/goggles) plus some cash for ammo (much cash if you are a Kamikazi Mikko or less cash if you are sly OJ). Perhaps we can get 2D to send out former/current GF’s to pick up ammo cheaper again and cost average that too.

Anyways, send me a reply or post one (I will add this under events too)

SlantyBard

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you’ll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you’ll no longer burn
To be brothers in arm

Through these fields of destruction
Baptism of fire
I’ve watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There’s so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun’s gone to hell
And the moon’s riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it’s written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We’re fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

SuperBowl Fiesta

Well on the heels of me getting my act together[ie buying some furniture for guests]. I am[gulp] opening up my home to a house-warming/SuperBowl Party!

Enjoy watching the game from a US feed – including all the commercials banned in Canada! The viewing box will be a 27inch flat screen TV.

So the date will be Sunday Jan 26th. Time TBA for now!
Location 2201 Pine St. Suite 303

Please RSVP so I don’t get fined by the management for having too roudy of a party[and how much munchies to get]!
