Ukranian Xmas wrapup

Thanks to everybody that turned out to Ukranian Xmas. Extra thanks to Evan and miniMik for putting up with the evening. $315 was pledged to the Food Bank (some people gave on their own) and $95 was pledged to the SPCA. (As all of you probably know, Jake Cat was an SPCA orphan and probably the best investment of our lives. Except, perhaps, for the mechanical troubles that he had a few years back…)

In review, it was a full-on twelve something course meal featuring lots of traditional Ukranian dishes which I can’t spell. (The dishes are from Blondie’s side of the family, and she can’t spell ‘em either.) There’s a big focus on grains (thats the tradition part, methinks), followed by butter, cream, onions, garlic… Good healthy food. Didn’t think to take pictures though.

It was great having everybody huddled upstairs, eating, drinking, talking and watching the game against Calgary (what a thriller)!

Thanks again to everybody that came!

What happened New Years Night

The year 2005 is over!?! NOOOOO!!!!

This is what happens when you mix boozes, a top-hat, and Slanty2D together. Not a pretty sight.

The rest of the New Years Photos can be viewed with the knowledge that you’ve now already viewed the scariest of them all.

“You take a mortal man,
and put him in control,
watch him become a Gawd,
watch people’s heads a roll.”

Hallowe’en 2005

Hello boils and ghouls,

October has rolled around and you all know what that means:

The 6th Annual Slanty Halloween Party!

So bring your friends, bring your neighbors, bring your neighbors dead friends, or bring anyone you can dig up!

As always this will be a full costume event. This year there will be a couple kegs of beer accessible by donation, but bring your own booze as the kegs may run bone dry.

Location: Dan & Jen’s House

1036 East 21st Ave, Vancouver, BC

When: Saturday, October 29, 8:00pm

Phone: 604-872-3234

“It was a mash,
It was a Monster Mash!
The Monster Mash!
It was a graveyard smash.”

End of Summer

Son of a C&(#$& smoking F&*$()%G B&*$H, summer is coming to an end.
So I am going to try and kill myself with fire, copious amounts of meat and three kegs of beer.

Any one else in?

Date: September 10th
Time: 3:00pm - 3:00am (if last time was any indication).

Email me if you want the address:
volfy a@t rocketmail dot com

Oh, and this time we ask for a little help. If you are coming in a group or plan to eat and drink a lot we ask for a little something to add to the table (chips, salad…appies) and maybe a few bucks for the kegs. No worries if you are just coming out for a beer or two.

Oh, and NO F*#$%*&G watermelon. My kitchen was a sea of slimy red goup the morning after the last party.

Oh, and rain or shine. We have a tarp system all ready to go in the event of rain.

Bring friends. Have fun.

Ciao
Wolf

Housewarming this Thursday (updated)

Matt has updated the invite with some directions and an address.

(update: oh yeah, my brain MEANT to say ‘Thursday’ instead of Friday. That’s right, its on THURSDAY)

Not SlantyBard, rather, “THE” Bard

Bard on the Beach has been a Vancouver tradition for 16 years. (Or more correctly, at some point in the last 16 years its become a tradition.) Last year, Blondie and I got there early and picnicked a little in the late summer sun, sipping our wine and eating our cheese before heading back to our seats and thought “this is the way that Shakespeare should be enjoyed”.

Usually, there’s at least one of the plays that catches my fancy, spurring guilty feelings if we miss going.

This year, that play is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, so not really Shakespeare at all, rather Shakespeare held up to a fun-house mirror. The movie was thoroughly enjoyable and the energy of live theatre should make it moreso.

Anybody interested in going?? I’m throwing down two dates — Friday, July 22nd or Tuesday, July 26th.

Housewarming in “The Rock”

Posted on behalf of Matt Ashley

Kylie and I are finally going to have a house warming party! So consider
yourselves invited! Thursday 30th June (Friday is Canada Day). Turn up any time
after 5pm. It’s pot and bottle luck, so please bring food and drink. We’ve only
got a little BBQ, but you’re welcome to use it. Bring your swimmies for the hot
tub - No Speedos….Kylie can’t control herself when she sees me in mine -
although I don’t quite get the reaction I would like! I will post a link to my
website with a map to our place in Ocean Park (nr White Rock) closer to the day.
We have a spare bed and lots of lovely new carpet to sleep on. If you do stay
over there’s a rule that you have to give Kylie a great big hug in the morning -
Ian can give you sneak approach tips!

I need a game to play in the garden - Croquet, bowls etc. have been done. Lawn
darts have been suggested, but the more responsible one of us doesn’t think
that’s such a good idea - nor does our bunny! I’ll welcome other suggestions and
where I can get it (the game!) from.

Hmm. Sorry Blondie, but…

Didn’t actually get permission to do this, but didn’t get word not to either. You’re all cordially invited to a rather tame little BBQ at the 24601/Blondie residence this coming Wednesday. Don’t show before 6:30 or you’ll likely be stuck outside. Bring your own everything, and come by to catch up. We’ll be there.

Update: We should be home by 6:30. We’ll be volunteering whatever condiments we have (amazingly, its not a huge array), and we’ll probably have some munchies (currently leaning towards chips, salsa, homous and pita). Thus spake 24601.
