Rain rain, go away, come back on another day. One in which I’m out of town.
Games against the Rodents of Unusual Size and Ultimate Bastards at Balaclava this evening, won the first and lost a rain-out to
the Bastards (it’s all about spirit, really, but I wish we had sent in different negotiators)
Sung to Rodents of Unusual Size (to the tune of “Lovers in a Dangerous Time”)
We came on the field to play Ultimate
And on the field guess what we metRodents of Unusual Size
Rodents of Unusual SizeThese fragile bodies of hurt and pain
Don’t like to play in the wind and rainRodents of Unusual Size
Rodents of Unusual SizeThrows get shorter as the game goes by
On the wet grass its great to slideRodents of Unusual Size
Rodents of Unusual SizeThere’s something wrong with their DNA
But we’re really glad to came to playRodents of Unusual Size
Rodents of Unusual Size (fade)

It’s time, it’s time!! It’s the first game of the season!!! What am I doing to get ready for it?Well, lets just say
“Don’t fill him too much past his toes”.
Update
Well, we finished our first games, and the spirit was strong within us! Not to say that we won or anything, in fact we lost both games. That said, we did come out of it with one memorable song.
Sung to Horror Flick – to the tune of “Spiderman”
Horror Flick, Horror Flick,
Hungry guys, speedy chicks,
Throw the disc, speed of light
Brings them down, in mid flight
Look out there goes the Moby Disc
In the heat of the game,
We were feeling quite lame,
At the speed of a huck
We were shit out of luck

Sung after winning our two final games
if you THINK i’m CRYPtic
OILin’ up my DIPstick
WEARin’ my CLEATS
like maDONNa wears LIPstick
CHECK my FLASHers
MIDnight MASHers
MAKin’ our MOVES
like HUNdred yard DASHers
SEAson’s OVER
Y’all bend OVER
THERE’s still TIME for
A ROLL in the CLOVER
Ultimate season’s over.
And its a rainy grey morning. I guess that means the summer is also almost over.
Sigh.

Thursday means Ultimate, which means I have another song for you, again to a tune from the Sound of Music.
Sung to Blat!, to the tune of ‘Doe, a deer’ (whatever that song title is):
Doh, the sound, when I drop the disc
Ray, the sun that blinds our eyes
Me, a player, my favorite player
Fa, a long way from the zone
So, you’re playing on our team
La, la la la la la la
Tea, no thanks I’ll have a bee
Which brings us back to Blat!
Doh ray me fa so la tea Blat!
God, our songs have gotten better in the last few weeks.

In the league in which I play Ultimate, its mandatory to sing the other
team a song after the game, usually trying to incorporate the other team’s name and something about the game.
Its a spirit thing, and the songs can get pretty raunchy. Sometimes, singing the song is a chore. But if
you are in the right (read ‘dirty and creative’) frame of mind, the songs can get pretty good.
One of this week’s songs (theme suggested by Adam), is well worth repeating.
Sung to the Ultimate Bastards, to the tune of “My Favorite Things”:
Potholes in endzones and sand in the middle,
Beer on the sidelines and at intermission,
Zoning and handlers and wide open flings,These are a few of our Ultimate things.
They come from the brothels, they’re Ultimate Bastards,
They came on the field and they played Cryptic Flashers,
You score a point and we scored one too,
Now its all over and we’re singing to you. When the disc dies
And the beers gone
And we’re feeling bad.We simply remember the Ultimate Bastards
And then we don’t feel so bad…
It was a great game, and a load of fun.
