Wound covers
I get a lot of scraps and chafing and cuts, so here's a little comparison of the bandages I've used so far. They're all waterproof, and can be left on for days while the wound heals. They're mostly available at any regular pharmacy. I've found that hydrocolloid is the way to go for most of my needs - they're great with low to medium exudate (how leaky they are) wounds. I've tried the Tegaderm type covers, but don't seem to work well on the types of wounds I get. | Bandage size comparison | Johnson and Johnson First Aid Advanced Care Advanced Healing Hydrocolloid - 76mm x 57mm Great for large 'leaky' scraps, cuts, bruises, abrasions. | Nexcare Tegaderm - 60mm x 69mm Good for light abrasions - nothing too deep as that tends to have more exudate. | |||
Nexcare Active Wound Cover - 60mm x 88.9mm and 31.7mm x 63.5mm Seems pretty much like Tegaderm, only cheaper, and in different sizes. I could only find this in the US. Apparently this stuff is available in a roll, so you can customize the size of the covering. | Life brand Fast Healing Bandages Hydrocolloid - 29mm x 59mm and 21mm x 42mm Relatively cheap, comes in the most popular sizes. What more can you ask for? |
