Chez McDiarmid’s

We are moving out of the city…over the bridge to North Van. As of August 1st this will be our new home:

While it needs a colour change on the outside, it is only 37 years old post and beam construction with an open concept on the main floor and a fully updated lower level totaling about 2600 SF. The backyard borders on a small swath of greenbelt and a creek runs along the side of the house. There are some more pics here.

Oxford Eights

We went and saw the last day of the Eights this weekend.  The Eights is a bump race, a rowing race where the boats line up 10 meters apart and when the race begins they attempt to try and catch (or “bump”) the boat in front of them.  If they do, they progress up the line for the next race.  The winner is who, by the end of the regatta, is the first boat to cross the line.  Listen to me, all boatie and all!  So we went along, sat on the side of the river Isis (which is just the river Thames renamed ’cause it’s running through Oxford) and had a picnic with one of Kate’s co-workers Lisa and her better half James.  The drink of the day is Pimm’s and lemonade.  How very Oxford.

Belfast!

Our recent trip to Belfast was amazing.  While we were there Belfast made the UK news for having the warmest weather in the country! There was also some rain…  Dave was an excellent tour guide.  We did his patented mural tour seeing some really interesting murals. I took photos of them all as some are being painted over with less confronting murals so they are history that won’t be around for much longer (all this from a Canadian tour guide… do we believe him??).

Belfast is a beautiful city small enough that trips out of the city get you to interesting places such as Dunluce Castle and the Giant’s Causeway. I’m still getting used to seeing so much green grass… don’t get me wrong, I like it!

Now for the photos!

BTW, you know a pub is rough when you have to go through a “cage” to enter…

Lovely place though! The Titanic was built in Belfast…  They claim that “she was alright when she left here”

Why do people have so much more time than me?
