You can’t help but writing about a flying priest who hooked himself up to about 1000 helium balloons.  I mean, as a kid, I’m sure you always wondered about grabbing a huge bunch of balloons to see if you’d take flight.

Apparently, its possible, although not recommended.  Hopefully he’s with his God now.

In other news, I hear that SlantyOJ might have reason to go  back to university and ace some courses.  There’s a local university offering a sociology course on the Simpsons.

In the class, students apply post-modern theory, “frame” the Simpsons in the debate between high and low culture, and explore how irony, parody and satire function in the show.

Blakeborough believes we’re drawn to The Simpsons because it explores both universal and particular elements of our culture — everything from the role of the family, school, religion and government to gun control, bullying, vegetarianism and same-sex relationships.

“The Simpsons is capitalist western society in a little yellow microcosm, blown up, parodied, mocked, satired. Same ideals and issues we deal with every day.”
