Striving for average
I did my first half marathon this weekend! It took me one hour forty nine minutes and twenty seconds. It's apparently a decent time for a first timer, but looking at it, I've just come to some conclusions.
I came in 50/82 in my age category.
I came 435/882 for my gender.
I came in 632/2009 overall.
Basically, what it comes to is I haven't achieved average in my age category. I shall have to strive to fulfill my true average potential in the Vancouver Half.

The great pit bull amnesty of 2007
There’s a pit bull amnesty going on right now in Northern Ireland (when pit bulls are outlawed, only criminals will have pit bulls!) They’re a very popular breed of dog here; having a butch dog can make a man look more like a man I guess. Or maybe it’s a cross-community thing, everyone seems to have them.
Pit bull lovers claim they’re actually a very docile breed, which could very well be true, but up here there seems to be a pattern of throwing them in a pit to kill each other, which probably makes them a bit touchy. At least I know Mad Max wasn’t too keen on the practise. Anyway, I only bring this up because yesterday I spotted at least 4 of them on the 5 minute drive from our house to my sister in law’s house. Maybe they were all going to the police station!
