Dusty, but better now

Last week Blondie and I (and the fearless father-in-law) got to tackling some of the projects that we’ve been meaning to do for ages. One project was refinishing our hardwood floors and the other was getting some baseboards put up. The floors are now significantly lighter and many of the worn bits look a million times better. The baseboards also add a completed feeling to our upstairs living areas, as we had removed the old baseboards when taking up the carpet.

Vacation time!

1000 miles or so driven like a maniac (dinner at 8.30!)
Some fine meals eaten.
Some excellent naps taken.
That, in a nutshell was my dragonboat/vacation trip to Southern California.
Did I mention this was originally for the Long Beach dragonboat festival? Yes, I went paddling down there with my team, the Concord Pacific Flying Dragons.

Afterwards, I stayed for another week, seeing the sights. I didn't really participate much in the trip pre-planning as it mostly involved sights and places. Not really my department. I did take control of the meals after our first day, when we ended up eating at Taco Bell at 12AM. Ugh. Never again I say. I've listed some of the more memorable places we ate at.

Catalina Island

Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara Shellfish Company - oysters outside on the wharf

Huntington Beach
Duke's - panko crusted calamari sticks (big honking sticks, nothing like the wimpy ass calamari rings), and ono. Yummy tasty little ono.

San Diego
Bandar - delicious gooey eggplant, and lamb shank with half a raw onion!

Let’s all sing London Derriere! … No wait, that’s not right …

We packed the whole family (7 of us at the moment) into two cars and travelled to Londonderry (nee Derry) today. Great walls, I’d recommend it to anyone.

Also, we’re currently on day 16 of my life in Ireland I believe. Days without rain: 0.

Now you are beautiful!

I’ve seen several Red Stripe Beer commercials but I seem to be in the minority when mentioning them to others. So I’ve found their webiste with links to all! Quite funny though I have no clue how the beer would actually taste but IT’S BEER! Hooray BEER!…

interview with Blizz chief

as you’ve probably already gathered, StarCraft:Ghost from Blizzard is iced.  this interview with Mike Morhaime (President at Blizzard) confirms this, and unforunately, he’s kinda hush about what title they’re working on next.  interesting read.
