Dusty, but better now
Last week Blondie and I (and the fearless father-in-law) got to tackling some of the projects that we’ve been meaning to do for ages. One project was refinishing our hardwood floors and the other was getting some baseboards put up. The floors are now significantly lighter and many of the worn bits look a million times better. The baseboards also add a completed feeling to our upstairs living areas, as we had removed the old baseboards when taking up the carpet.

Next week, we’re hoping to paint the house….more pictures then!!!
Ok, so what have you gotten your father-in-law? I mean seriously, the guy deserves a medal. Not only did he have to raise Jody, but he has done some wicked ass work on your house.
I think you should send him on the vacation of his choice for a month.
A great son-in-law?? Took Jody off his hands?
Hey tell Roger we’ve got a place now, so if he feels the cold this winter he’s welcome to come to Oz to renovate our joint! It’d be simple, a coat of paint, some polising of our floors… and helping me consume my wine celler, I need to downsize
Looks great guys!
How is it that you need to downsize a wine cellar??
Don’t get me started- The wine cellar was taking over the linen closet. Not that I really cared for the linen closet, it’s more the principle that the wine is taking over our dysfunctional lives. Now we have no linen closet, no second, third and fourth spare bedrooms, no second kitchen to store the said wine and he wants more! If the rate that he acquires wine is x and the rate he consumes wine is y and the passing weeks are w then the number of bootles of wine we have now is (x*w)-(y*w) which = 8 doz and it’s ever increasing! As much as he tries he can’t drink the stuff at the rate he wants to buy it. I wouldn’t care half as much if every second bottle wasn’t spoiled by bad storage conditions. It’s a crime against grape growers, I tell you. They put the love in to make the wine, SlantyOz orders a dozen by mail, they arrive and are tortured in fluctuating storage conditions, the cork perishes the wine dies a sad and horrible death. Someone charge him with a crime against viticulture. He doesn’t deserve the wine- just drink it and put it out of its misery.
That’s more math that I’ve seen on SlantyNet in a long time. Must go… now.
PS: I have a suspicion that you’re not doing your part with regards to “y”.
To reply to that accusation… I have had 4 bottles in the last year that I thought were off. Considering that I bought about 15-25 doz in that year, my percentages aren’t that bad! Plus the one’s that have been bad were old vintages I bought cheap, it was a gamble, and in some respects I won. The things I do to ensure we ALWAYS can match a meal with a wine… (or a wine with a meal
[...] Blondie and I are on our second week of vacation. I mentioned that the last project we tackled was refinishing the hardwood floors and installing baseboards. That’s done (and, to boot, there was enough extra baseboard to finish off the baseboards in the basement. [...]
