Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for tuning in to our annual Tour De Slanty. Its a beautiful day for the Tour. For those of you that are not familiar with the Tour, its a bicycle race for beer enthusiasts and Slanty-ites, with the following stages of the Race (probably).

  • Slanty Mark III
  • Penny Lane
  • Slanty Mark I
  • Flying Club
  • Slanty Mark II
  • Mystery leg (possibly Cheshire Cheese in Kerrisdale, or Chuck E Cheese in Burnaby or maybe even Mark’s in Kits which probably makes the most sense)
  • Anti-Slanty Mark VII

I’ll insert a Google Map of the actual path for you later.

Its 18C outside with not a cloud in the sky — highs to 24C are expected.

In asking our participants whether the heat will make any difference to their performance this afternoon, the concensus seems to be “Yes”. To make up a quote from SlantyOD: “You’ve got to understand that in this heat, beers can’t just LINGER on the patio. You do that, they get warm — They have to be finished off as quickly as possible.”

We wish all the participants the best of luck. You can read a little bit about our first Tour De Slanty, or the Tour De Slanty “coverage”. Unfortunately, photos of Tour de Slanty disappeared in the server crash of 2004 (I think). Maybe SlantyOJ could reupload??

Update: Apparently the mystery leg was BOTH Cheshire Cheese AND Kits Community Center AND Mark’s. Whee!
