Slashdot is the old school geeks news site.

If its technology news, its probably gonna get posted to Slashdot, where it will be poked and prodded by thousands of readers.  Readers with opposing opinions, readers with too much time on their hands or readers who are in the middle of beating their servers to death for unexplained crashes.  The comments area where the readers discuss the news, then, are full of predictable shrill cries, dissenters,trolls, flames and the occasional funny or insightful comment.
