Looting vs finding
This Metafilter post sums up bias in the media quite nicely.
Black people loot, white people borrow. Follow the link to the MeFi article which then links the pictures/captions in question. It _does_ look like the photographs (and captions) come from different sources, but I gotta tell you, the optics are pretty awful…

Is this a case of….
Black people drive like this (Boom chicka bah, chicka boom). . . .
White people drive like this (deedle deedle dee). . . .
Homer: “Hee hee, it’s funny ‘cuz it’s true. White people are so lame!”
I mean its all theft… what does it matter what you call it?
It now says “Two residents wade through chest-deep water after finding bread and soda from a local grocery store.”
How do you find bread from a store?
I “find” stuff in stores all the time. Problem is, I often find I’ve lost money right after finding said something in said store. That’s why I’m up here in Gawds country wid all da udder red-neck folks, up here earnin’ some bread to pay da man. They come out mostly at night. Mostly.
Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!!!
Where the hell are you?
the MeFi thread is super long .. some interesting discussion. two different media sources for those pics, so who’s to know if there’s any outright bias. Yahoo must post millions of photos with captions .. i’m certain there’s either no one checking the feeds from media sources, or a whole ton of people checking; if you looked at any one of the photos on it’s own, nothing unusual (aside from the 20 feet of standing water and people floating their bread home).
it definately looks bad when they’re posted all together; though perhaps taken out of context.
From the guy who took the picture.

I’m over here in Kelowna….and from what I’ve seen around here, “It’s a quiet, little, whitebread, redneck mountain town!”
Somewhat akin to Southpark….except less parkas.
A lot more old folk, too. And wine! Buy wine. Quail’s Gate. mmmmm.
