The Global War on Terror will henceforth be known as The Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism, though to be consistent they should probably call it The Global Struggle Against Violent Extreme. though less scary, this new title is more vague and will hopefully be more enduring. at the same time, you should also try to forget that the rationale has morphed from a retaliatory war on bin laden and al qaeda, to an humanitarian war on saddam hussein and al qaeda, to a preventative war on angry non-centrists. logically, this now means that they’ll be at war with themselves. i hope they win.
for some literary context, here’s a quote from george orwell’s 1984:
It was rather more of a shock to him when he discovered from some chance remark that she did not remember that Oceania, four years ago, had been at war with Eastasia and at peace with Eurasia. It was true that she regarded the whole war as a sham: but apparently she had not even noticed that the name of the enemy had changed. ‘I thought we’d always been at war with Eurasia,’ she said vaguely.

Funnily enough I was wearing my Autobots shirt today when I read about this.
“Autobots wage their Battle
To destroy the evil forces
Of the Decepticons”

It’s old news now but I don’t remember anyone commenting on the parents who got their 16 year old son a stripper for his birthday.
Again, old news but this video of a bike powered SMS thingy is pretty cool.
Also very cool is this keyboard. You need to scroll down a bit to see how cool it is.
It’s a lot cooler than say killing yourself because you found out the plot to the latest Harry Potter…
And todays last bit of old news: car crashes into second story of house.

The man that British police killed with five shots to the head was a Brazilian national not connected to the bombings.
Brazil has demanded an explanation for this lamentable mistake. This seems like a bit of a gross understatement.
At least Blair is describing it as a tragedy, but warns:
“Somebody else could be shot. But everything is done to make it right”

Just finished an ulty double header in the hottest weather we’ve seen all summer.
Of course, running and doing any strenous activity is against the recommendations of Canadian Blood Services after you’ve given a pint of blood… Which I also did today.
My line for the evening was: “If I faint, tell my wife I love her.”
The beer also tastes particularly good this evening, and maybe its hitting a little harder than normal.
Peace out.

A bunch of years ago today (are we old enough to want to not remember yet??), my wonderful wife was brought into this world, a little wriggling, crying bundle of joy that only her parents could love. Mainly because they were the only ones that had met her.
And now they’ve handed her off to me.
Lucky me! (hahahaha, take that as you will!)
Happy birthday sweetie!
