This study was mentioned in the paper sometime ago, just found it online. Basically, researched tracked sexual relationships in a Midwestern high school over 18 months.
A study of sexual and romantic relations at a high school found students connected by long chains, rather than in a tight network with a core group of a promiscuous few.
Sharing of partners was rare, but many students were indirectly linked through one partner to another and another.
Here’s a few more details but if you really want your eyes opened, check out the map of high school lovers.

There’s more than one decision to make at election time this year for British Columbians.
Talking last night about the upcoming provincial election, and mentioned the fact that there’s a referendum question that voters will be asked to answer at the same time.
Should British Columbia change to the BC-STV electoral system as recommended by the Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform?
Asked to explain, I was incredibly inarticulate about the whole thing, able to maybe stutter a few words about the general gist of it but unable to articulate anything in detail. After a quick read of this page about STV, I might be able to do better.

It’s not as funny as Triumph (as if anything could be) but this page of photos from a Star Wars convention is still pretty damn funny.

So, with 24601 being out of town, I went to a Sexy Party show with OD, IrishKate and her coworkers. It was a low-budget, amateur “burlesque-style” event, with songs, dancing, and doorprizes from Womyn’s Ware. While it was kinda fun (and we got to meet IrishKate’s friend’s new beau, who was the sound guy), there was some discussion on whether, for our $15 admission, we would do it again. I think I certainly won my money’s worth in doorprizes….and likely OD and IrishKate’s admission’s worth, as well.
Note, links may not be entirely work safe!

The trip itself was fine — Met with the fine people in Ottawa that I work with online, and will perhaps be working more with in the future.
That said, coming back to Vancouver hasn’t been so good to me. I started coming down with a little something while I was away… And now, between the time change and the air travel and the cold — I feel like I’m in my own special place, where sounds and indeed walls appear further away from me than they actually are. (Hello Meatloaf.) My head is still plugged from the descent (this is three or four hours later), and I’m drunk (mea culpa, I was reading “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas“, so it seems NATURAL that I should be on at least SOME drugs — currently alcohol and cold medicine). Since getting home, I’ve watched Apprentice for the 2nd time today (WestJet now has satellite TV on some of their flights), this time actually catching the ending. I’ve also (obviously) gotten into the beer that I was too cheap to buy on the flight. Everything looks heavily edible right now (cat and keyboard excepted), so maybe I need to go ransack the fridge. I’ll report back later. Or not.
In the meantime, you can check out a few photos of Ottawa that I took in the daylight there, in between the hours of sitting in a boardroom discussing…. stuff.
And now I’m looking for the meaning of life.

I fed Slanty.Net into this online readability test . Apparently we score an 8.49 on the Gunning Fox index, or slightly less readable than Reader’s Digest. Someone would need between 5-8 years of schooling to understand us, which is quite frankly higher than I expected. Is someone wielding a polysyllabic vernacular at times when I am not perusing this particular vicinity? Indubitably.
