some of you may know that when it comes to photography, i am a bit of stubborn traditionalist (trina will say that i am merely stubborn). i don’t have access to the excellent photosoc facilities at ubc anymore, and there’s nothing like it in worcester, though i did find an incredible space here – a huge old factory taken over by artists, one of whom rents darkroom space for the low low price of $5/hour. the building is amazing and huge, filling a whole square block. in vancouver it would cost about a bazillion dollars. here you can rent out a room for $150/month.

anyhoo, as i was saying, i refuse to go the path of the dark side and replace my slr with a digital camera, but – on the other hand – i’m busy man! printing photos takes forever! and so i sucked it in, whipped out my credit card, and bought this bad boy. it scans film at 5400 dpi; at that resolution, a scan of a 35mm frame gives you a 40 megapixel image, which is more information than is recorded in the film. i like my new scanner. it is badass.

i have a few images up on flickr. i’ve been shooting every weekend, so i’ll be adding more photos every week. share and enjoy. next hit to the bank account: one of these.

speaking of which, vancouver-based flickr is being bought out by yahoo. nice. good to see boys and girls from the home town hit it big.
