They call this snow?

Good grief. Everyone gets soooo excited when it snows here. I think the problem lies more in that 99% of the locals can’t drive in the snow to save their life. Anyways, I am off to the Arctic again to work. Having glanced at the weather report it seems that this weekend will be extremely mild with predicted low of -24 and high of -17 (normals = lows -33 highs -24). Unfortunately, there is predicted “near blizzard conditions” which means that the wind chill will probably drop the temperature by another 10 to 15 degrees at least. Ah well, you can’t see it snowing very well when it’s pitch black anyways since the sun won’t rise until late January.

Is this _really_ happening?

I’m inclined to believe that the procedure was carried out improperly (like maybe they took a sample from a wine skin or something), rather than a man having a blood alcohol level of .914.

I’d like to give a shout out to my homie Scotty, now beam me up yo!

Check out William Shatner’s new album. It actually is supposed to be very good. I’d recommend listening to Common People, it’s something else. The album was produced by Ben Folds, and has guest stints from Joe Jackson, Aimee Mann and Henry Rollins.

The lyrics to the Henry Rollins duet are pretty funny.

PS. For past Shatner hits, check out this post.

Semi-regular elephant: Elephants in tsunami rescue efforts

Probably the world’s original all-terrain vehicles are helping out in the tsunami relief efforts. Elephants can get to places machinery can’t, and are assisting in rescue efforts in various ways. (Just think, their trunks are far superior to any mechanical arms with a sense of touch and smell to boot!)
