Sweet wascally wabbits

I found this article to be quite an interesting read… especially just before I go for lunch… so, anyone know how to clean a rabbit?

“Besides Jericho Beach and Queen Elizabeth Park, the University of Victoria has long been overrun with “wascally wabbits.” But a new predator is making its mark on the rabbit population there. It was discovered last month that two students nicknamed the “rabbit hunters” are butchering the bunnies for food.

The students claim the UVic rabbits have the same appeal as ethically, organically raised rabbits because they spend their days hopping around freely munching on greens from the university’s lawns and gardens. Before leaving school for the summer, the pair hosted a potluck dinner serving stuffed, rosemary and oil-basted roast rabbit for 20 friends.”

Up North North

As per SlantyBard’s article, I too have been up North recently. It’s pretty crazy up there and when you’re the only emergency doctor for 500 or something square kilometres things can get a bit intense. Here’s a note from my diary so Adam doesn’t feel too isolated.

Kuujjuak is a small town near the Artic Circle. Non-descript save perhaps for the ordered fashion of the plastic-sided houses appropriately numbered ‘one o one’, ‘one o two’, ‘two o one’, and so forth it stretches north from the airport. The skies are unnaturally high here. Looking up you wonder where the clouds go and where heaven begins. It feels completely natural for the setting curtains of the Aurora Borealis to dance for you nightly. To the east lie the soft sand beach and the bay. The water has a glossy lack finish to it and a calm appearance that’s unreal. Small islands and the eastern shores are close and entice you to take a dip and greet them. But only a drunken fool would dare to risk an embrace from the arms of the Artic Ocean, even in summer.

Toothy grins and impish smiles are everywhere. Friendly waves and hoots of greetings are given by the Inuit children with careless generosity. They zip and zoom with reckless abandon at all hours about the town on deafeningly loud all-terrain vehicles or miniature motorbikes. Their courage and lack of self-preservation is both mind-numbing and white-knuckling. In the mornings
a cool easterly salt breeze greets you as you run out the door to the hospital and in the evening the sun peaks out from underneath all the heavenly clouds to warm your back as you do your evening walks along the rocky cliffs overlooking the sandy beach. You squint to make out the forms of whales which might lurk beneath the icy waters. In the Artic the days are long; the nights are short. Sometimes, however, it feels completely the opposite.

His face was one of many of the toothy grins which greeted me daily throughout the past week. We carefully bundle him to keep him warm and fastened the many tubes coming out his too small body so they would not loosen and dislodge during his long trip to the operating room. There we pray a surgeon gifted with God’s grace and hands would greet him. A nurse and physician take him and leave me standing upon the airport tarmac staring at the jet-plane disappearing into the blinding sunrise. The ambulance leaves me alone to my thoughts and I walk the short walk down the dusty road
to the town health centre below. The breeze is blowing my hair to the left side. I’m cold. So much has happened which I cannot understand. I need to sleep.

Pointless personal post

My god, its so warm in here it feels like Speedos are a good idea.

Its so hot, that I’m wondering what the melting point of the human body is.

Its so hot that spending some time in SlantyBard’s neck of the woods seems like a pretty good solution.
