Good for him, good for us. I much prefer the ‘decriminalization and ticketing’ then the straight out ‘illegal and tie up the court system’ method.
Why should a speeder that could possible kill someone while commiting their crime just get a ticket, while someone carrying a couple joints end up in court. I applaud our current government for stepping into the 21st century on this particular law.

the law won.”

15 grams! that’s a helluva lot of pot to be carrying around.
Yea we gave up. So what next do we ‘decriminalize’? We seem to be giving out free heroin so I guess that’s the next logical step.
Oh and in the same month they do this, the cities say they are going to start chaging homeoweners for busting grow-ops. We won’t let you investigate, we won’t let you kick them out, but if we bust them you and to pay for it and they won’t be prosecuted. Yea what a super system!
Nay…as a homeowner you do have some rights. You can investigate any place you want to with 24 hours notice. You do have complete rights to see everything in the house that you want to, you just have to give notice.
No way you can clean up a grow-op in 24 hours, so I think that’s a valid argument for holding a home-owner partially responsible for a grow-op. Certainly if I was to own a place I’d be doing spot cheques on the place to make sure over not just grow-ops, but damage/maintanence and such. I’m certainly surprised that we never got checked on at Slanty I and II….if I’d been one of those owners sure as hell I woulda been around checking on us! We were sketchy at best….
And it’ll still be illegal to own pot, you still get a ticket for it, you just won’t tie up the court system. MUCH MUCH MUCH more effective I’d say.
In 24 hours you can easily get rid of the plants, and that’s what counts. 2 you can’t go into their “private space” like drawers or bedrooms.
And when was the last time you heard of someone being charged with simple posession? Nobody’s being charged with that so it won’t make a difference there. What will happen is that with the perceived perception of them reducing the penalty for it, demand will go up. So even more grow-ops…
I will say I don’t know exactly what’s tying up the court system. Are there any stat masters out there that can tell us where the major brekdowns are for criminal charges being laid? I would guess the majority of cases are actually assult or domestic disturbances.
The “back-log” of the court system certainly is’t being helped by the latest Mistrial of Kelley Ellard….. My god, we need 3 trials to convict her???
