If I’m not mistaken, this is a redback spider, one of our more dangerous spiders

Keep the drunkard on his feet. You use the mouse, which isn’t immediately clear. My personal best so far is 70 meters, but I’m thinking I would do better if he was on a stolen bike.

Just staying topical with the newly revived elephant posts…
It sounds like a soccer player’s worst nightmare: an opposing team whose players each have four legs, weigh no less than 900kg and can block a score simply by lying motionless in front of the goal.
But it was all part of the fun on Sunday as prison officials held an elephant match to discourage inmates from gambling on the Euro Cup in Portugal.

I know that The Daily Show is the best show on tv, but this interview with Don King is just that extra special bit more fantastic, and as such I thought I’d like to share it.
(Requires that accursed software RealPlayer, may it burn forever in the fiery depths of hell.)
[Update]: Check out this 3d soccer goal replayer, if that’s the right term. It allows you to watch all the goals of Euro 2003 from different angles. So SlantyBJ can have his heart broken over and over again, and from about 8 different angles =)..

Congrats to the Slanty.net Vollyball team!!!
We won our division beach volleyball series last night, playing a tight little set against three other teams that we soundly trounced to bring ourselves to the #1 spot. Course…we were playing in division ‘D’, but it wasn’t the bottom division! No way baby!!!
Again, congrats to everyone that played last night!

I believe there is such a thing as “too much sushi”. In fact, in years past, I have often remarked that there were more sushi bars than “proper” bars. (Mentally, I’ve long since updated that comment to refer to coffee bars…) The worse thing about Vancouver’s mass-produced sushi culture is the fact sushi is no longer art, its no longer an experience. Its slapped together in a sushi-like way, crushed into little styrofoam containers and sent on its merry way. Sure, if you eat in at somewhere funky or maybe somewhere expensive there’s still a “sushi experience”, where the atmosphere is good and the sushi is different, interesting and unique instead of the same old same old.) But 90% of Vancouver sushi (as with everything) is ho-hum, humdrum boring.
Japanese food is especially known for its exquisite sense of presentation. And thus, I point you to some beautiful examples of bento (basically, Japanese lunchboxes). These bento pictures are amazing.
You can read a little more about bento cultural politics or check out this daily bento blog.
