So, I turn thirty tomorrow. It’s not a cube day (33) but I suppose it could be expressed like this: 33 + 31. Thinking more on that, forty would be expressed like so: 33 + 32 + 31 + 30. Weird.
Things I should remember not too do too often as I reach my thirties:
And yeah, I’ll start those resolutions… tomorrow. Sure, right, I’ll get right on that.

Something that came up over the weekend is how silly it is that people on diets are apparently no longer eating doughnuts because they’re high in carbs, rather than because they’re sugar balls soaked in fats.
Which then caused 3D to send me this. (audio NSFW)

This photo is from the Cathedral Lakes Provincial Park. Not sure if I posted it before, but I redid the photo in PS last night. Because star trails are difficult to do on digital camera secondary to electrical discharge that develops on the sensor at long exposures greater than 5 minutes, this is a composite of approximately 50 two minute exposures taken in the middle of the night. Because the area is so remote and near tree line, it gets very cold and pretty spooky if you are by yourself. The trees are “painted with light” using my flashlight during one of the two minute exposures. The star trails themselves look a tiny bit jagged because of the compression for the internet (the original file is about 200 megs).

There is some satisfaction to bang on your keyboard when your computer isn’t responding.
When you’re using Remote Desktop to connect, and the remote computer isn’t responding, banging on the keyboard feels even more futile and useless.
The reason for today’s keyboard banging is Java. The Microsoft JVM, and Sun’s Java 1.4.x are all crap. Throw in Microsoft Certificate Servers, and SSL, and it’s enough to drive a man crazy.
