Cheap gas
This is the first time in my life that I’ve ever considered 91 cents a liter to be cheap gas. Given the lineups, I wasn’t the only one.

The ole Metro is looking better and better..
Toyota Echo. You can’t go wrong with a mainly plastic car.
Speaking of gas prices, why does the price always at its lowest Sunday night/Monday morning, then jumps back up to 99.9 for the rest of the week?
The SMART car is coming in Fall 2004. 0.8 L turbo diesel. 60 mpg city, 76 mpg hwy. Only drawback is that it’s a 2 seater. Not bad, starting at $16,000 CAD.
Can’t you still buy a Civic for that? I would still prefer more car, if the SMART car is what I’m thinking about, the Mercedes two seater?
Well, I’ll keep my 4.2L falcon thank you very much, I pass the metro’s of the world as they try and do 120km/h up the hills. Oh, and I run on natural gas (before you hippies get on my back) AND it’s more environmentally friendly AND only 30 cents a L at the moment…
Yup, the SMART is the venture between Mercedes and Swatch. It gets better mileage than the Civic but it’s definately a secondary car, not a primary. Natural gas is around 60 cent’s a litre at the moment, I think, in Vancouver. You also have to factor in the price of conversion. My company Chevy Cavalier has NG and it runs like a piece of crap. Gotta have an 8-cylinder I guess.
Renewable fuels seem the way of the future… Why stop at bio-diesel though? Why not run your car on methane or organic waste? Never run out again.
I’m still holding out for the French car that runs on compressed air. You have to look at the energy used to restock high pressure refuelling stations. BC is fine since we’re hydro but some areas still use coal to create electricity. Another benefit of the compressed air engine is that there is no combustion so lubrication is achieved with vegetable oil.
Don’t know how to do the chi chi linky thing but the site is http://www.theaircar.com
