SlantyNet BugList
Well, it’s been a while now that the new look has been around (well, not really that long since 24601 and I went to Hawaii with the Queen Shebas) and I thought that I would open up the comments to wishes/bugs/thoughts on the new look. I will start with kudos to 24601 for his time and effort in maintaining and upgrading Slanty.Net. Please see comments for more…

1. The real estate on the new layout is still very inefficient since only half of my screen is used by slanty net (and I am using a small resolution too)
2. When I post an article, the next screen says “article posted” but there is no link to the news page so I have to go and refresh my favourites link to get back to the news page
3. I don’t think that I like the “recent comments” area as it seems to just clutter slanty up. This is just a subjective thing and more aesthetic, but then I really like how sites like google are pretty efficient and very well layed out. Any thoughts on this?
4. I would like to see the read/unread comments incorporated so we can see if there are new comments or not to read.
5. Things I really like: the icons, the fact that it is easy to add an article now, the list of recent articles on the left, and the kewl colours/logo.
Again, thanks 24601 for doing all this stuff.
Further issue in regards to point #2. When in Comments for an article, there is no link back to the news page. Maybe in the log-in Area, we can add a button/link for the main page.
re: Point 2
FYI, the logo in the top left always leads you back to SlantyNet.
Feedback is always welcome.
Heh, I’m just glad I’ve killed the bugs that allowed other ppl to post on top of one’s articles….
Shit, that’s way too cool! I need a Slanty.Net for Dummies link heh ehh.
WEHER’S TEH TEXT VERSION!!1!!??1
And in 24601′s defense, if you don’t like the layout you should blame the good folks at Geeklife, since 24601 is just copying them. Although that seems a bit cheeky.
And how come I can’t edit comments?
I do notice, however, I’m kicking all y’all’s asses in number of comments. Eat my dust suckahs!!
You talk too much.
Editing comments will come, shouldn’t require too much work. Of course, I could be wrong and when that happens, its a bitch.
Therefore I’m getting rid of the comment totals.
Actually, I noticed a bug in the comment totals and will have to fix it…
Can’t handle the shame eh? Why don’t you set it up like you did with the posting totals?
ODComments = 24601Comments – 1
When I’m logged in, there’s two options that don’t appear to do anything, Mailout and Poster Stats.
There’s also some photo galleries that are missing. Like my stag photos. Although that might be for the best.
Regarding photogalleries, thats more there, they don’t all show on the first page. I might be able to do something about that.
Mailout and Poster Stats will come.
Ahh, I see. My bad. It’s a bit misleading with the old galleries at the bottom there.
24601, your webcams are broken!
Read/unread comments has been restored for logged in users. Its now DB driven instead of cookie driven, so those results will follow you from location to location.
Webcams now also healed.
Logged in users now also have alternate styles to choose from, which include a text version and a Geeklife Wide style, both of which stretch the full screen.
Hmmm, some miscellaneous bugs with the ..musings skin have been fixed, think I’ve gotten all of them, and images posted now resize themselves if they are too large.
On the text version you can’t really tell the difference between a musings of 24601 article and a barproject article. I think the colour’s different, but if you don’t know the colour then you’re screwed.
Request: If, as a logged in user, you have read X number of articles, when you go back to the article, one should be hyperlinked down that far.
And its done, there some extra logic in there too.
21: The color’s not different. I’ll think about what I can do but no guarantees.
1: The ‘Recent Comments’ area has recently become more useful for logged in users.
XML feel has been updated to RSS 2.0, What’s playing plugin will be restored soon.
