Man, lots of really good stuff today, so let’s start off with the best:
The top 100 April Fool’s Day hoaxes of all time. Including this great one from the BBC. And then there’s this:
In its April 1985 edition, Sports Illustrated published a story about a new rookie pitcher who planned to play for the Mets. His name was Sidd Finch and he could reportedly throw a baseball with startling, pinpoint accuracy at 168 mph (65 mph faster than anyone else has ever been able to throw a ball). Surprisingly, Sidd Finch had never even played the game before. Instead, he had mastered the “art of the pitch” in a Tibetan monastery under the guidance of the “great poet-saint Lama Milaraspa.” Mets fans everywhere celebrated at their teams’s amazing luck at having found such a gifted player, and Sports Illustrated was flooded with requests for more information. But in reality this legendary player only existed in the imagination of the writer of the article, George Plimpton.

Here’s a pretty wild looking game. It’s like Scorched Earth but you play against people on the internet.
The top 20 cartoon characters most suspected of rampant drug use.
Weegee’s world. A good oldish photographer.

I dunno if this is news in the US or not, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it and it’s pretty funny. Seinfeld and Superman have teamed up to do some web shorts for American Express (click on uniform to see the first one), and so far it’s pretty funny.
See the interview.

Well, it’s been a while now that the new look has been around (well, not really that long since 24601 and I went to Hawaii with the Queen Shebas) and I thought that I would open up the comments to wishes/bugs/thoughts on the new look. I will start with kudos to 24601 for his time and effort in maintaining and upgrading Slanty.Net. Please see comments for more…

First it was those dirty Spaniards with their fishing boats, now it’s the bloody Danes planting flags on our islands. When will those filthy Europeans learn?

Now both these sites are common Slanty stomping grounds but today for what ever reason they’ve been kicked up.
Penny-Arcade was kicking some a$$ today. First they conjure up this little Gem, but the follow up stories on World of Warcraft screenshots did not dissapoint…“I’m a warlock who spends his days consorting with demons and now I had to rely on some goody two-shoes paladin and his benevolent god to raise me. I swear, as soon as I can summon something to eat him I will.”
You just have to be a geek to understand…
So I’m thinking that’s it right? That will be the peak of joy for today, nothing will be any better, it’s all downhill… wrong.
An oldy but goody site told me more lunch particles needed to be sprayed acorss the screen…
“I have no problem believing that angels are delicious. I’m sure you could run up and bite off an angel’s thumb and it would taste like Krispy Kreme.”
“What did people do before they had logs to sit on? Watch TV?”
