Unless, of course, you count one day twice in an alcohol induced haze…
I was telling somebody the other day that I am more in a Christmas mood now than I was at this time last year. I think last year, Christmas nearly passed
me by… Too focused on work, I think. I wasn’t thinking “Christmas” until at least the 15th of December. Which, of course, lead to some rather quick gift ideas.
(Hey, these gift certificates are what ‘_(name of choice)_’ always wanted!!!)
However, today, I remembered what I dislike about the holiday season. We dropped in on Future Shop today to drop off some film to get developed.
Packed. Wall to wall. People milling about, conspicuously consuming in the holiday spirit.. I don’t know whether to bah humbug on that or… I brings out a
knee jerk reflex in me. That said, I mean, what can I (”Mr. I-gotta-buy-gift-certificates”) say without being horribly hypocritical? Well, I can say how I treat the
whole thing, which is probably less soap-boxy and more practical.
For my friends and family, Christmas does not usually involve a lot of gifts, nor do I expect much. I think its near madness what people spend at this time of the year.
Maybe a couple of small gifts for family and close close friends. Many of my friends will not receive gifts. Nor will I expect them. As long as we can see
one another and maybe raise a toast to the past year… I’ll be happy. Of course, peace on earth and goodwill to all men would be nice too, but hey, we
can all dream, right?

Just fiddling around here with some photos I took of our view:
Click for a bigger image. The image is a bit skewed I think, does anybody have any better software for stiching panoramas? Preferably free? This program only has a 10 day free trial. It was dead easy though, which I appreciate.

It’s Friday, 8:30AM. I expect the first call for alcohol to go out in about…. 30 minutes, give or take a few. Some of us (probably not me unfortunately) will manage to meet after work for a much needed Friday drink. And of course, while they are at it, they will be sure to follow the 86 rules of boozing, as published by the Modern Drunkard magazine.
Seriously, who knew? A magazine devoted to drunkards? I have a new home page!!

I like video games. It’s a known fact that I sometimes play them (ask Angel) and I think that most games that I play I can hold my own in…maybe not StarCraft, but others. I can shoot a helicopter down with a Stinger with the best of them in the Desert Combat modification for the great Battlefield: 1942.
But there are people that just blow me away at how good they are at games. Watching Thresh at Quake was a treat and there are so many people that love to watch StarCraft masters play (they have outdoor showings in Korea for StarCraft). But I digress…do you remember a game called Super Mario Brothers 3? How long did it take you to finish it? I remember spending hours at a time to finish it…I think it was maybe an entire day’s worth of jumping, shooting and trying to get the stars. But finishing it in 11 minutes???…that’s something to watch. Oh yah…he didn’t lose a life and he ended up with 99 lives.
Enjoy
Digital Pimp out.

Weird holiday game. Seems dead easy, but I’m putting some time in to find out if I’m wrong..

Yeah, just in case you missed in right on the front page of the Vancouver Sun… Canadian Alliance MP says that being gay should be illegal
See, its not like we don’t have our fair share of nutcases and kooks in our desolate northern wasteland, right?
(Update: Its still a black-eye on the party even if they canned him from his post already. It’s not the first time prominent party members have said stuff like this.)

Well, with American Thankgiving coming up, I suppose we try to be thankful for something. Besides the fact that we’re thankful to be Canadian…
I, for one, am thankful that I didn’t get forced to drink any of this turkey and gravy soda, made by my favorite soda company, Jones.
