in the us, health care bites even for the middle class. non-revelatory news flash: the free market sucks at delivering social services or public goods. not only do corporations have a mandate to make massive profits, but these days they have to make ever increasing amounts of profit or else their share prices go down. to me, this formula seems to be intrinsically at odds with the public good. boy, those fuckers better not privatize bc hydro.

Jesus: the U.S. is above Germany? How the hell is that possible? I guess that Cananda was rated higher then Germany is only because Germany had to suck up eastern Germany and it’s Russian legacy.
But lower then the country that ELECTED A FUCKING MONKEY AS PRESIDENT? That has got to hurt.
I would be interested to see what the list is like in 5 years. Especially when the states have been handed a 40 billion dollar deficit from the federal government to take care of. Aparently they are looking at two choices:
1)Raise taxes
2)Cut the budget to social items like education.
I wonder which one is going to get the axe?

Well, not really. I would argue that the federal government and it’s wonderful leadership in all matters (including the economy) have lead to the individual states getting shafted.
Federal policies are shifting the income from the pockets of the middle class to those of big business(softwood lumber tax on Canadian wood slowed down housing construction but increased profits for lumber companies …). And big business pays WAY less tax per dollar then some construction worker.
Not to mention that the whole “lets go kill em all and let god sort em out” foreign policy could be directly responsible for the second highest trade U.S. deficit on record ($38.03 billion for September).
I blame the Monkey for everything.
Hell, when I get gass I blame the monkey. I even blame the Monkey for Slanty2D getting laid and for Jake The Cat.
But I like the word monkey. Had a nice ring to it.

the ban comic sans site is great, but they reveal their own typographic ignorance when, in their tirade, they suggest the use of arial black! arial is a poor knockoff of helvetica and would never be recommended by an educated typographer. someone should confiscate their copies of adobe type manager!
