You know, this probably got government funding to complete. Why do we need to know this? Bizzare.

It’s all over.
Thank goodness… to put it mildly, that was one brain draining week. I never knew science could be sooooo tiring!
Anyway, now Lonnie and B2 have a weekend in New Orleans. … roumour has it that B2 spent last night on Burbon St. Little bastard. Not saying he has a sore head today… but he might sit in the hotel room and catch the Canucks game tonight…. sounds like a plan.
As for my next exciting move? Back to Vancouver on Monday. Plan on drinking some sweeeet Vancouver brews come about 3pm… Pub crawl anyone? Or just the Cambie… hehehe…

Okay, this one is really, really cool: a java-embedded toaster that burns the latest weather report onto a piece of bread. Now, for 2D, someone should build a toaster that burns some daily porn onto toast.
Ganked from The Register.

I don’t know if there are any more Mac users on Slanty, but in case there are I tested the second beta of Opera today and it is FAST. Their tagline is “The Fastest Browser on Earth” and I believe it. Man, it feels like I’m surfing on a T1, not on some crappy DSL line. The difference really is quite dramatic. I don’t know if the Win version of Opera is the same but if it is, and considering that it’s way more standards-compliant than Win IE5, I don’t think there’s any reason not to use it. The Mac version is still a bit buggy tho, especially with font rendering.

I couldn’t believe the caption to this photo when I read it. I mean, Canada isn’t exactly a superpower, but it is a member of the G-8. I guess that really doesn’t mean much. [warning: file is 287k]
Finally posted some photos of New York on my web site. Looking at these now, I realize they are a wee bit cynical. This is probably because nearly all of them are of Times Square. I happen to think that New York is a lot nicer town than what these photos would lead you to believe.

As we speak we’re smack-dab in the middle of test day. This is where all those hours of pouring over the machine and learing each and every little bit of it come into play. Now, lets see how we’ve done…
1) Power-up. No power. Find 3 different fuses blown and the power cord severed.
2) Powering up, no display…display screen disconnected….that’s an easy one.
3) ‘Fatal Error’. Hum…that doesn’t sound good. Better then ‘Demonic Error’ or ‘Apocolypitc Error’ but still not good. Now we rip off all the rest of the panels and dive into the guts of the machine. Four different motors unplugged, two switched power lines, 2 encoders switched, air pump unplugged, RAM missing, drying rollers missing screws, air line kinked, pressure gauges mis-set, motors missing, and a partridge in a pear tree.
4) It seems to all be fixed, we’re running final test prints and then it’s time to hit the airport bar. WAAAHOOOO!!!!
Oh crap, SCSI errors….time to run. Bar must wait….

If my car still was working (stupid crappy Citation), I’d get it customized to look like this. I’d be a hit with all the ladies! And it damn well better have the voice mod chip to go with it…don’t want my car talking like hamster on crack.
